performances (cpu and latency), ripple, aliasing, curves, phase...

Dumb question Gio: What is ripple exactly?giancarlo wrote:performances (cpu and latency), ripple, aliasing, curves, phase...
I feel like I can imagine what it might sound like, but I definitely would be interested in a technical explanation.

It was a really cheap wine.botus99 wrote:Dumb question Gio: What is ripple exactly?giancarlo wrote:performances (cpu and latency), ripple, aliasing, curves, phase...

There's a better, technical explaination ... but will have to do that later

Meantime, think ripples on a calm water surface.

Re: Ivory IAE - 2
about ripple:
this is the magnitudo shape example you can get from ivory. As you can see, is it "perfect". No waves.
and this is phase, the secret recipe of our engine. Sampled phase is what makes the plugin similar to the hardware
this is aliasing and harmonic distortion:
and it is dynamic too!
All this beauty is working in my macbook pro at around 1% cpu at around 2000 samples of latency with all bands engaged.
Someone asked in our beta forum: Ivory was not modelled on a "songtec" device (just to use the name used by cdsoundmaster).
It is an other expensive device very used in a lot of mastering studios, and pretty common, do your homework

Re: Ivory IAE - 2
Sounds and looks promising.
Just to be sure, we're talking mostly about the mixing version, right? At least the performance figures.
Do we have an approximate release date?

Re: Ivory IAE - 2
Can't wait!
I hope the widest q bell (not the shelf) was left in the mid bands of the 'mixing' version.

Re: Ivory IAE - 2
That's some LOW harmonic distortion! Definitely a very clean unit
I've been aware of the phase sampling in Nebula for a while now, and I completely agree that it is a huge determiner of how an analog unit sounds. Very interesting looking curves too.
So, if I am interpreting this correctly then ripple is a measurement of unwanted waves (ripples seems an accurate name haha) between the boosts and cuts? Thanks for the reply!

You eff 1 eq?
Re: Ivory IAE - 2
ok.. so this looks like the 1st aqua offering that we can use a "bread'n'butter" mixing eq ?
low cpu usage
super clean
low distortion/harmonics
really looking 4ward to this
