There are skins for both Nebula 4 and 3. They're all very nice, and done by JPN. The Nebula 3 skins allow you to select between lite, full, and SHQ versions with the click of a button, without losing your settings, which makes it really convenient to switch to full or SHQ before rendering, and use lite while auditioning in your mix (to use less CPU).

I picked this up. It's very nice. Love the addition of envelope parameters - its make this compressor more versatile. I have a comparison set up between Smack VU, TimP's 160a and Waves 160a. I plan to do a live feed on youtube comparing these three. I will post it here. If you miss the live feed it will be posted with the same link as a permanent video.

Thanks for the shootout. The smack sshouldnt sound the same as the 160a's though. Do u have the cdsoundmaster library? Thats a 160a as well.

Is Smack based on a different variant of the 160? Which?

I think Smack VU is derived from 160VU, not 160A. As the name also suggests. The same thing as the Waves plugin.

Go it! I am not a 160 afficianado and always wondered what the differences are between the models.

From my testing, yes, Smack sounds more like the Waves than TimP's.

i don't know anything about what any other devs did, but i did the original 'vintage' one (actually two of them, sampled in stereo), which is the more sought after one in the line, or at least commands the highest price. some people love it, some people don't like it. as i mentioned at the site. i think a lot of that has to do with the fixed attack/release making them 'one trick ponies' but i believe the adjustable controls i added do open them up quite a bit.
