Re: Alternate Skins for Magenta

It looks like there's a new black skin for Magenta today. How do we switch the appearance? It's a big download-- did anything else change?

alrilght- so apparently images are not working on the message board now. I hope I've explained it well enough.

Re: Confused by Aquamarine 4 (Input Signal)

The nominal "zero VU" program level is referenced to -18dbFS in Acqua plugins. On Aquamarine4 the left meter is the signal level measured after the input trim when the input/output meter light is selected. (Circled in red). When the gain reduction mode is selected the left meter shows GR in the opti...

Alternate Skins for Magenta

The blue skin on Magenta 4 was much more easy on the eyes. Is there any chance we could get a similar tweak for Magenta 5?

Core Technologies

It is time for a web page update! https://www.acustica-audio.com/pages/acqua-cores lists Core 13 as the last technology improvement. I'm getting some understanding of what the new core technologies do by reading user manuals of the updated Acqas. We are now up to Core 16 which may be most noticeable...

Re: TAUPE Plugin Questions

In some ways I think the make/model of the machines is less important because so much of the tape machine sound depends on things like bias calibration, rec/play HF EQ calibration, and reference level. I find it more useful to go by the frequency graphs. Frequently I'll set up on one machine that I ...

Viridian2 SHMod

Hey, I'm having some difficulty with the SHMod control on Viridian, both with the stand-alone compressor and the strip-- it seems twitchy as hell. On the other Acquas the attack time seems to be as dialed-in when the SHMod control is set in the middle of its range (usually value 2). Turning the cont...

Re: WHY would anybody use these plugins ?

If you're using a program like Wavelab, it is possible to run any plugin in M/S mode, and I do this with Acquas frequently. All the AA plugins have a channel link/unlink button, and the Magenta comps allow you to variably tie the sidechains together. My only question, and I assume Acoustica has done...

Cobalt is due for an engine/sample update

I am working on a swampy blues rock jam today and Cobalt is such a beautiful source of attitude for this heavy-amp'ed guitar rock. I love this plugin! but... Since Cobalt came out a few years ago the AA engines have gotten so much better. Bass extension has been improved, low frequency ripple and no...

Re: feat. req.: dynamic latency / latency switch

There really needs to be a translation utility to accommodate this. VST2 plugins are "Different plugins" from their equivalent VST3 versions. A version upgrade say from Ivory3 to Ivory4 is likewise a different plugin even though no parameters or scaling has changed in the GUI. We need to have a simp...

Gold3 Strip - input gain compensation

Here's a fun experiment: reduce your Gold3 input gain by 10 dB, set your monitor level at a healthy level, switch between different preamp models. After you're done picking up your ears and your woofers, we might want to re-examine the order in which input gain trim and gain compensation are applied...

Re: WHY would anybody use these plugins ?

Oh, maybe because they sound so F'n amazing! Acoustica's software innovation is the audio equivalent of a revolution in military affairs-- akin to the radical introduction of the machine gun to Napoleonic warfare, or the tank to trench warfare. You really have to understand that this is a totally di...

Re: Sand3 is out!

Sometimes it takes a while to fully explore these really extended plugins. I've been a regular Sand user since the original Sand1 days. Today I tried out Sand3 EQ+G for the first time and fell in love! It was the perfect module to put between compression and mastering limiting to tighten up the sub ...
