Look who's here... Pro Tools 10

Post by joshnur » Fri Oct 21, 2011 7:49 am

Looks like Avid now has a release cycle nearly as fast as Google Chrome

Pro Tools 10

I checked and the upgrade for my PT M-Powered 8 is $500... or the price for a new Logic Studio.. *gulp*

Perhaps they couldn't stand having a version number less than or equal to Logic Studio.

oh, that's wild. I was just reading about Studio One and the melodyne integration. Now this?? WOW. Looks sexy too. Let's see what Logic drops if ever, someone's getting my cash this winter.

I must say that I feel like these DAW companies are too hungry for the big dollars. Have you guys given Reaper a serious try? It changed the way i look at and work with digital audio, and in amazing ways. I'm just sayin'..... I know, there is something for everyone.....

I respect the functionality of Reaper. Pretty amazing options. Although, in general it annoys the hell out of me and the general flow gives me a headache.

I have an "advantage" of after years of analog audio, reaper was my intro to the DAW world, so that's the only flow that I know (nothing to unlearn or relearn).

OMG. No way. On a serious note, I have nothing against any DAW, but how can Avid get away with this? Didn't 9 just come out? And an even bigger question is why do users keep buying into it deeper? I know that it was cutting edge and ahead of it's time, but that has changed. There are so many choices out there that don't require the monetary investment, ties to specific hardware, etc etc etc. I have heard some awesome AND some terrible mixes come from every DAW including ProTools. Their strategy SEEMS crazy, but why would they ever change their business model if people keep paying for it? Avid has a great thing going, it seems.

Reapers workflow at first was a nightmare. Because I used Cubase for about 10 years.

Now I would never look back! Reaper IS the bollox.

Hahahaha, RTAS is dead as it seems. AAX all the way ! Good choice to not have invested in a native Nebula RTAS version !
