I always thought the Distressor was famous for the way it emulated many different types of comps, and not for it's sound signature.

Too bad I sold mine already before I knew about Nebula....

Distressor is punchy sounding, and the harmonic distortion modes are different

My understanding is that its fame is the result of the comp functions plus the different types of harmonic distortion it can produce. People definitely do talk about the Distressor "sound" and the fact that it offers a 1:1 setting makes me think there's something to that.

We are about to list absolute everything on the market here. Maybe a poll would be better.

This is a very good point. But I think it comes down to what the people have access to rather than what people actually want.

Maybe...

Please please please please please?

I'm hoping to have an EL8X of my own in the coming months. If/when it happens, I will sample it myself if I can figure out NAT. Oh, and, uhh... if I can find a new recording space for all my homeless gear.

Any one got access to an Original TUBE Aural Exciter OR Other ones like for Radio (in the 1960's) that were Vacuum Tube (NOT the SS ones like the Aphex 204)?
