Updated Blu-mu v2 100a v3!!!

Post by Tim Petherick » Wed Oct 18, 2017 8:00 pm

Image

The blue mu comp/limiter is inspired by a VCA/mu design Comp/Limiter

What changed in v2

Ratios and attack are all in one and interpolated, This cuts down the amount of presets needed for emulation. Now choose from just three dynamic types. Limiter, Manual (attack and release tweak able) and preset 5 based of fair*hild program dependent.

Release shapes have been improved, very low pumping and double the compression headroom which is important for lower ratios.

It features-

-Compression ratio’s variable from 1.6:1 to 20:1
-Limiter
-Preset 5 (fair*hild style Program dependent)
-Hpf filter
-N4 and N3 jpn skins
-44.1, 48, 88.2, 96khz sample rates.

-----------------------------------------------------
100a

Inspired by a modern leveler. the classic ratio changing gain reduction (very soft Knee) giving a more subtle compression character on low gain reduction. This makes the Sum 100a very easy to use. Sounds fantastic on vocals as well as giving great ambience lift to drums etc, warms up bright sound sources. Presets come in all sample rates within one pack, 44.1, 48, 88.2,96

Whats improved in V3?
-Better release shapes and improved PD
-N4 and N3 jpn skins
-Unique 2 mode Harmonics/line preset with ODD and EVEN sliders. Hot (10k)or normal (4k) versions can be selected.
-Attack is select able in one preset
-Normal and linear freq response version of compression available (for those who dislike the roll off)

------------------------------------------------------

The the updates above are totally free to those who bought the product before. Thanks for your support

The program dependence on 100a has improved significantly, this is particularly noticeable on the longer release settings.

thank you for the free update! :)

Tim just a question about the Sum100A V3: it is much lighter than the V2 (182MB vs 315MB). Is it the full package, or I need to add the new V3 Programs and vectors in their respective folders without deleting the old ones (V2)?

Yes everything is in the zip. It’s because the kern lengths are trimmed down.
So everything is much smaller. Plus there are far less presets now because the attacks are selectable in one instance

Both Blu Mu and Sum 100a are rockin here, IMHO Tim really is taking ITB compression to the next level with all these updates, and I LOVE the N4 skins.

Tim, thank you for the great updates and skins!

I'm am having issues with 100a v3.

Programs 203 and 204 output the signal way hotter than what it entered into N4. Program 205 doesn't seem to be compressing at all.

For the record, I did update the N4 Universal Acqua Engine to version 14190. (And, BTW & IMO, the update instructions could have been clearer.) I tried several other 3rd party programs (from you and others) in N4, but 100a v3 seems to be the only one I'm having issues with.

Am I the only one having this issue? If so, maybe I did something wrong...

No problem, I’ll take a look ASAP. It’s likely that its something on my side.

Thanks Tim for all these updates. I really like the Blu-Mu I bet against the HW no one could tell the difference.

Answering myself (I don't understand the secrecy about what these are modelled on?) - seems to be the Tube Tech LCA 2B. Which means its purchase time :)

well it's not based on a CL1B. I'd say this is a pretty versatile comp
