Cobalt speculations [Awesome video inside]

Post by Phelix » Wed May 10, 2017 3:55 pm

Just saw some screenshots on G's Insta!
Apparently a dynamic EQ. But what’s the origin, a Swiss Army pocket knife!?

A dynamic eq in the Aqua world would be awesome! Dynamic eqs are very useful animals.

Could it be this?

What a monster presented by Tischmeyer, nice one!
Also I find algos (ie. TDR, FF, iZotope, Eiosis) convenient for surgical treatment.

Btw. Cobalt layout has changed a bit, no longer pointing to a dynamic EQ. Compressor looks more Ther*ionic, the EQ section more T*beT*ch 'ish. Probably another fine hybrid strip, time will show :-)

Wow... The DYNAM EQ button above the routing panel makes quite a difference !

Dynamic equalization is a consequence of corex.
It is not possible in other ways (not nebula, not older acqua engines)
Enjoy the power!

Nice teaser, a new specie!
Quite heavy impact on the stereo image in the video.
Meters look promising!

What are the ratios, does it expand as well?
Is it fast, can it be used for de-ess?

Stereo linking, ratios comparable with thermionic and altec
Yes it can work as deesser, because to the usual pultec style we added a subtractive peak band with a decently sized q

This is a Monster for Mastering!!! :D

I need it !!

Could we know what will be the price, more or less?

Congrats!!!!! This shit is insane, really cool. Cant wait to play in my mastering chain with it. Acustica have many different eq´s, yes, but didn't have a dynamic one... and this one is awesome, as far i can see. Good work.

Cheers!

We are back to the office, I confirm, the plug is partially in mono. We are still debugging the internal routing (this is the only reason why the stereo field narrows). Basically a channel function is mixing inputs...

I wonder how will sidechain work for this one, as it´s a key element for dynamic EQ (at least if you´d use this as a track spacer). It´d be awesome if this was VST3 so we could sidechain in Cubase in a couple of clicks, and not having to use the horrible quadro channels...
