That was exactly what confused me from the beginning of using GOLD!!!
My English don't really allow me to explain it well, but here is the link to a video. https://youtu.be/md4K_w3AeXM
There is no sound recorded, but everything is understandable if you look at the meters.
The second problem is that in such cases Comp module is useless without input trim or an extended threshold range!

I was actually getting the loud burst on the standalone version of the GOLD Compressor but I see that only the Channel Strip has been updated. Is their an update coming for the standalone GOLD Compressor?

While waiting new update for standalone GOLD Compressor you can
change GOLDCOMP.xml to fix loud noise bug.
Add
<PROTECTIONDB> 3 </PROTECTIONDB>

it must look like this

<SETUP1>
<ROW> 0 </ROW>
<PROTECTIONDB> 3 </PROTECTIONDB>
<INPUT> 0 </INPUT>
<OUTPUT> 0 </OUTPUT>
<NOMEMORY> 1 </NOMEMORY>
<NOBYPASS> 1 </NOBYPASS>
<AHEADLENGTH> 5000 </AHEADLENGTH>
<GAINDRYTRIMOUTCOMPENSATION> 1 </GAINDRYTRIMOUTCOMPENSATION>
</SETUP1>

And I replaced GOLDCOMP.aaxplugin with new from updated GOLD.aaxplugin renaming it

Curious where others are finding the 2252 useful? So far I've been preferring the 2254 but curious what the 52 is great on
