Ragnar Lothbrock ! Yeah, what a great eq. Quite unique in character thanks to its colored preamp. Like it.

i believe Stedal wrote how we could improve the eq to respond faster by altering the xml file in amethyst
but back then i could not afford any increase in CPU usage

now that i upgraded my CPU i can but i cant find the info

why didn't i print screen that info lol

and this thread is now so big i don't have the time to go trough all the posts because im not even sure it was in this thread the info was shared hehe

so how do i increase the response time in the Amethyst2 eq ?

Thanks for answers in advance :)

ok hahaha stupid me, it was in my inbox here in AA forum

i`ll share his post just in case someone else is interested in knowing this

i hope you don't mind that i share this inbox message SteDal, i bet most Amethyst users got this message too ;)

:

jfjer,

I've sampled many values of Amethyst eq for the interpolation to work flawlessly even at high Q values.

If you feel it's reacting too slowly when you move the knobs, you may try this: open AMETHYST.XML with a text editor and change the line

<MIXRATECYCLES> 0 </MIXRATECYCLES>

into

<MIXRATECYCLES> 20 </MIXRATECYCLES>

In this way you can hear the changes you make in the GUI almost instantaneously.
The price you pay for this snappiness is a quite higher CPU load as long as you're moving the knobs.

It all depends on your way of working and the power of your system whether this is a workable solution or not, but it's definitely worth a go, if you haven't tried it yet.

Cheers,

SteDal

Yes, jfjer, no problem about posting this PM of mine.

Fact is, I've just tried this trick, and it still works as it should with, for instance, Honey and Honey 2.

Apparently something has changed along the way with Amethyst, though, because it doesn't work as well. Maybe there's something different in its internal architecture, but really it's all beyond my knowledge.

You'd better ask Giancarlo some info about this...

However, as a general note, play it safe!
It's always better to have a backup copy of the original XML file, since it's quite easy to screw up things, and then, voila!, it's again reinstalling time.

Thanks SteDal :)

its still very workable the way it is for me though

but if a solution to make it snappier exists i want to know hehe

G is probably to busy to answer right now with the pink comp bundle release and all

but when things calm down a little im gonna ask, it may even be better to submit a ticket to ask about this but a word from G on the topic would be nice :)

Cheers
