Using Aqua with Reaper vs Pro Tools on Mac

Post by adam79 » Thu Sep 05, 2019 1:06 pm

I have a pretty powerful MacBook Pro; I never run into any problems when using Pro Tools. However, the Aqua plugs that I've tried run insanely sluggish and always cause the "run out of memory" message. This is especially the case when I run 96 Hz sessions.

I've read that Reaper handles Aqua WAY better. Has anyone tried Aqua with both PT and Reaper on a Mac? What have your experiences been?

Thanks.

REAPER will arrive to 80% of CPU load without problems, you should keep 20% free for OS and ASIO or Audio CORE.
Pro Tools will start showing error windows around 50% CPU load.
