Ultramarine (mid/side vintage compressor)

Post by RE301 » Fri Jul 17, 2015 12:11 pm

Exciting news - very curious!!

Edit - the product pic for Ultramarine is hilarious, in a good way... brilliant!

It appears to be a certain 'holy grail' machine. I once used a well-maintained hardware model during sessions at a studio and found it imparted a kind of euphonic magic to the audio - a kind of high quality 'dark chocolatey' tone, that would go well with the wine and setting of the product pic :)

Can't wait to hear Ultramarine.... exciting times we live in!

Since the pricing structure is 3% of the retail price of the hardware an acqua plugin is based on, I wonder how much a 670 compressor type would be ! They go now for around 35 k$. So a thousand bucks plugin ?
i guess we'll find out soon...

Gosh dang it, I really wanted to be done with buying plugins as I just got Honey and Pearl recently. But there is no way I can pass on what looks like a 670 compressor.

it is derived from a 40k eur device, well serviced
The 3% rule will be relaxed a bit, otherwise it would be too much expensive

lol. nice joke.

no person in the world would spent 1200 € for a plugin... it should be a sell for 120 € maximum.

...but well... i will try the demo.

Is there a timeline for the free beer eq?

I guess it will be more like 0,3% of the hw unit in this case.

ill think ill stick to my UAD f-child this time , price 200 - 300 is just to steep right now , it has to be insane good if im gonna buy it , think the ua one is pretty darn good especially the behavior and i can use lots of them including the 660 , would be mush more exiting with something else for me, but again you newer know with Acustica how good is gonna sound , the eq`s are insane good so im a little exited to at least try it and hear if it got a big edge over ua sonically . would have been much more exited over ivory comp or an L-2 , but that's me :)

I hope you mean La-2

Indeed, the price is steep and it has to be really exceptional to jump on it. Will have to check the trial version first, on this one.
