Pearl 2!

Post by giancarlo » Wed Feb 22, 2017 1:05 am

Let's start 2017

Pearl2 is announced for 3rd march.
Next product- diamond- will be released on 1st April.

First notes: completely free update for all actual pearl users, we added a strip channel and a standalone compressor.
Eq is refined by ultrasync. So the best eq ever is moved to the next level.
Compressor is refined by ultramatch
Compressor is featuring also the ultrarare compressor preamp tone
We are skinning the eq following your previous custom skin personalization
We'll release everything on 3rd march, also commercial release. No presets.

The product will be on sale for a limited amount of time, 1 month (till 1st April). After the presale period we'll suspend sales as usually.
Sales could be suspended before the deadline if we exceed 300 units. Next window for buying pearl will be 2018 or 2019 (we waited 2 years for this update). You know we keep promises, today the number of working pearls is still 99. Price is the same as old pearl (it was 180 if I'm not wrong)
These additional 300 units will be skinned with your number but without personalization.

All personalizations will be available within a month, but there could be delays.

Note: we'll enter betatesting possibly tomorrow. If betatesting reports issues we could delay this release, in such case the window for buying could be smaller. We are trying to do our best.

Call all your friends for this deal, we'll be force to reject all requests after April!

Note 2: the authorization app could be ready for the release, or just several days later

Assuming the 180 price is correct, would that include the new compressor?

Cool! Looking forward to have a chance, finally, to try Pearl (2)

ps. I really hope that Diamond will be not an April Fool?

I would expect that to be the case, as stated in <G>'s announcement.

Bottom line ... the comments are out there. The community should read up on them, and prepare a decision.

Definitely looking forward to testing the new compressor addition. Expecting it to compliment to its' EQ brethren in quality. 8-)

This is great news ! And I don't want to put pressure, but I remember Pearl1 was sold quite fast. And man... It IS my favourite EQ, hw and software combined (and I have a bunch of nice hw things !)

Yes compressors are included.
I agree, pearl is possibly the best one, at least for my tastes.
This new interpolation minimization is pushing things to a new level, because the eq doesn't go nuts at particular settings, it is "stable".
The eq alone is a very good achievement, we added the original compressor with a very specific tone. Compressor is very very close to the original model, it is limited to around 20 dB compression like it. It completes the tone.
We added in shmod also timings from lime compressor c, so it is a bit more flexible than the original unit which features a single attack constant (anyway lime c is completely different due to the special release curve and the special static function curve). I think we did a good job

after all the comments and threads about N4 and acqua releases I am maybe thinking about jumping (slowly of course) to acqua world, it is too much money for me a jump like this but I am wondering about it. So maybe the first attemp could be pearl2. I would thank if you Giancarlo could explain a little about the context for this compressor included on pearl2. I understand it will be right for tons of tasks but I would like to know about how it was used when it came out on its era, I am after vintage sounding all the time(50s and 60s) and I don't know if this one is something giving vintage features of sound, as j37 or Bogen does, i.e. (I mean I am wondering if it is far away from being subtle and if its sound is clearlly regarded to 50s 60s sounding recordings.
I would like to know about it because it looks like pearl2 will be an ultra fast buying choice and I have to be sure it is a real important tool for my "sound" in order to save money and be ready at that moment. Thanks in advance

Are you going to release a trial, as usual?

As a Pearl User I am so excited about Pearl 2. I never had a software or hardware for so long in my mastering chain. It beats everything. :D

What kind of Eq is Pearl? Is something transparent like Surge, or more like Silk?

Due the low number of Pearl2 copies available (thas sounds a bit weird for a software product IMO) it would be very interesting and useful to have the chance to try it a couple of days before the start of sale.
This would give to the customer less anxiety on the availability side and more attention on the product sound/features evaluation.
