Murano 2 (speculation)

Post by Brian » Sat Apr 02, 2016 9:07 am

Looks like Aquamarine owners are in for a free upgrade in the near future.

From what I can gather so far, it should feature:

New GUI

Core 8 engine, with correct and smoothed (PD) timing behavior

Faster program rate as seen in Pink and Amethyst

Something in the way of new preamp options, likely an EQP-1a pass through

Bug fixes

Gian mentioned in another thread there will be a GUI preview next week.

I'm quite excited about the possibility of faster program rate, corrected release behavior, and hopefully a more predictable and smooth opto section.

Great! It's about time to release the upgrade to justify it's price tag.

Looks like it may be the first offering with the new internal clipping as well.

It's great to see these Acquas develop in new and interesting directions, rather than be complete clones of workflow, features, UI, etc.

What is supposed to do the internal clipping ? avoid the ring artifacts ?

I'm not sure - best guess is that it can both protect against the ringing glitch when signals exceed the sampled range of a program, and also approximate some clipping which occurs when driving various analog circuits into serious nonlinear operation.

This can be a part of the mojo of some compressors, as transients may be massaged a bit at one or more points in the circuit - in addition to whatever the gain reduction circuit is doing.

I can't wait to see how much Core 8 improves the compression behavior of Murano. That mock-up picture looks AWESOME! Having the new preamp flavor built in is really exciting news too! Thanks for the all the hard work you guys ;) Things are really getting interesting

Ooh yes, pure metal, like a powerful engine!
Please put 'Core8' label, so we know it's out before v9!!
Edit: on closer look core8 is actually printet :)

*Also remember correct label on VCA release 0.5 > 0.2

Any hints, what ballpark is P1A?

+1

I'm looking forward to Pearl, Scarlet, and Muano updates. Murano and either of those EQs should make a fantastic 2bus chain.

If there are different teams working in parallel on updates and new releases, then the current pace of new Acquas is great. It makes sense to focus on new releases, which both generate new revenue and new customers. However there are still important improvements and bugfixes that old customers have been waiting a while for.
