Peak RMS analyzing/normalizing of the audio files (previewing/rendering)
This is a popular feature, known from NRGUI/Nebula renderer.
Because developers of the Nebula programs often recommend input level, which is optimal for their programs, NebulaMan now allows you to define „peak RMS“ level, to which files will be automatically normalized before previewing/rendering (for example -18db). NebulaMan will find peak RMS value of the processed file and adapt file level according to the desired level.
Normalize options can be found on the „Rendering plan“ dock. Note, that this also affects preview.
„Normalize to (peak RMS)“
checkbox – must be checked in order to normalize function become active
Desired peak RMS value
(from 0 to -24 dbFS)
checkbox - if checked, file level will be automatically returned to the original value after processing
There are two new parameters in the „Settings“ dock, which are directly related to normalizing functionality.
for the average RMS calculations (default -70 dbFS)
for the min/max RMS calculations (default 50 ms)
In most cases, these values should work – if you find NebulaMan calculating unusual (unreal ?
peak/average RMS values for audio files, you should try changing these values.
As usual, if you have problems with a program, first try to delete "nmsettings.xml" and "nebulaman.layout" files to reset it.
If you want to see more details about what's going on (RMS values etc.), you should set "loglevel" to 1 or 2 (file nmsettings.xml)! Message window will show a lot of interesting info
