newb Q: creating a reverb from a recorded sweep ?

Post by Halfdane » Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:40 pm

Hi there,

I am absolutely new to this wonderful world of Acustica's, but keen to learn all the tricks !

I know of a most fantastic acoustic space that I'd love to *steal* and use as a send effect - in this case, it is probably best to record a set of sweeps to build the reverb from, as it's a public outdoor space with no outlets or other means of power, so portable gear...

Can any of you point me to articles covering this way of working with NAT ? any of you ever working this way ?

also, probably a dumb question, but is there a way of using quad mic (soundfield) setups with Nebula, or is it only stereo ?

many thanks in advance !
Halfdan

Hi Enrique,

While there's no doubt I'd enjoy that two day course immensely, it's not an option unfortunately..

Can I ask you - or anybody else reading this thread - to direct me to any mauanl or post that explains how this is done ? if it's the classic RTFM, do educate me and I will read it for sure :-)

Thanks in advance

Halfdan

here is an article, that is quite extensive:
https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques ... dio-nebula

you need to install the 32bit version of nebula, even when using a 64bit OS, to get NAT (the sampler). also windows is mandatory (or a virtual machine with windows). be prepared to spend quite some time, to learn how to do things properly, also take notes about procedures and bugs, as you will run into some ...

:) good luck!
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox/x3, tracktion6/7, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6/7(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

Hi Mathias,

thanks for your swift answer - I will read the SOS articles and hopefully get a little wiser...
