OpenCL Support?

Post by PenguiN42 » Thu Oct 13, 2011 7:36 pm

CUDA is cool, but it's a proprietary system supported by only one graphics card company. The emerging standard for this kind of thing is called OpenCL, and is supported by a much wider range of graphics cards.

It would be pretty swell if Nebula's CUDA support was ported over to OpenCL, so it wouldn't be tied to one manufacturer.

It would be very worthwhile on Mac OS X as it supports OpenCL directly since Snow Leopard.

In my understanding OpenCL is supported by both ATI and nVidia.
