AlexB PRO Libraries Crashing Sonar 8.5.3

Post by powderfinger » Fri Jun 18, 2010 5:09 pm

Hi,
I have a number of Nebula libraries (R2R, Reverbs, several analoginthebox EQs, several AlexB consoles).

All of them are working perfectly accept the new AlexB PRO libraries. I have the BMQ, MWC, and MBC. All three have the same issue, where 80% of the time they crash Sonar while loading in Sonar.

Help please! :D

I'd love to use them, but am still stuck with the old ones until this gets fixed.

are you using the x64 version, right? Could you test the 32 bit version too? In such case just install the 32 bit upgrade

Yes. Using x64. Will try the 32 bit version tonight and will report back.

Sure enough, the 32-bit non CoreII version works. :D

Will you be able to fix it so that it works 64bit CoreII?

they do work in Sonar 8.5.3 x64coreREverb version.
Perhaps it's a setting in your Nebula3CoreII64 Reverb.xml
Try increasing the rate conversion and the lookahead.
<RATECONVERSION> 3559701 </RATECONVERSION>
<AHEADLENGTH> 1814 </AHEADLENGTH>

Sometimes it can be worth while restricting the number of kernel processes.

<HDIM> 8 </HDIM>

It's a complex bug then.

Will there be any sound quality issues if I stick with the 32-bit version for the console? I know performance is a bit lowe, but will it affect the sound?

Upon further investigation, I have noticed that the crash seems to be more related to how much RAM is being used, as opposed to which version of Nebula I am using (64 CoreII, Regular, etc).

It seems that when I have a low amount of RAM usage on the project (maybe 1-2GB usage), that the PRO libraries will load without much of an issue. But on larger projects (where say 3-8GB RAM usage) is where the immediate lock-up happens. My system has 12GB, so I don't get why this would happen.

Does this additional information help?
