The Strong 'Low Enders'...

Post by SWAN » Tue Jul 27, 2010 5:40 am

Which Nebula EQs have the most solid low end? Im sick of using algo plugs which I have to make huge boosts to feel like Im adding something to the sub 100hz region....yet still on making huge boosts - the bass doesnt have that analogue-style 'thump' and weight...particularly for kicks it is important and bass (obviously ;)...Im actually considering getting a hardware EQ especially for giving some heft to the low end - but I thought I ought to check the Nebula options before spending money on hardware....
I read once that Alex B recommended his VMQ for this...any other ideas?

73eQ and Mammoth do a good job in that range.

Classic Logic EQ (CLQ). This is what I use in the low-end when I need to work on a specific range the 73eQ or Mammoth don't have.

GML, Bogen & Summit Audio EQ are also great on the lows.

PEVs indeed have a big low end.

I do like the APE also.

has anybody done A/Bs with Nebula EQs and hardware? Is this 'solid low end' idea all in my head? Ive not had a hardware EQ to compare....I heard someones tracks the other day and they clearly had real weight in the LF and he attributed it to his Soundcraft mixer 80hz boost...

vintage black eq and mastering black eq both A*I designs are one of the best, equal to the best analog eqs, I own a gyraf g14 myself and in some cases I prefer BMQ to my analog eq in the low band (in mastering).
