FREE rare TAB/Telefunken W395a EQ

Post by rhodes54 » Tue Jul 06, 2010 12:15 pm

<Download Link Updated 03/02/2012> (Thanks Barendse)

Luckily for me (and you ;) ) I could keep the rack with N*****n & Telefunken EQ's a day longer which gave me the opportunity to sample the TAB/Telefunken W395a EQ's.

I tried very hard to find information about these EQ's but there's simply nothing to find on the net.
The only thing I know is that they are Passive EQ's with a germanium transistor based output/gain stage and have been sold under both the TAB and Telefunken brand.

Specifications:

W395a
Image
60Hz: -15, -9, -6, -3, 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 dB
Presence:
Freq: 0.7, 1, 1.4, 2, 3 KHz
Gain: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 dB
15KHz: -15, -9, -6, -3, 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 dB

Used Equipment:
Digital I/O: Lynx AES16

Wow, missed this one.

I'd love to hear an explanation about why this clean curves (1kernel eq programs) applied by using Nebula sound better than the usual algorithmic clean eqs.

Cheers

Unfortunately yes. Sampling at 96K seems buggy. I haven't figured out why. It must have something to do with the NAT sampler.
Though, I've used quality converters & clocking and all has been sampled 24 bit which keeps loss at a minimum. I think the biggest difference is the fact that 44.1K is limited to a 20Khz bandwidth.
On the other hand: I think the sweep also stops at 20Khz, while I personally think it should run to 30Khz to be sure you pick up all (harmonic) content above 20Khz.

Thanks for your generosity :)

I'd love to try this out but unfortunately I always have problems with Megaupload. Could you please upload this program as well as the N*****n EQ's to Rapidshare or probably a free storage site like Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/)? (All official libraries by Giancarlo are stored in Dropbox).

Because a clean Nebula preset does not contain harmonic distorion, the source is still analog and not artificial/digital.
