Same, the auto-release in particular is exceptional.

-Manual release version comes with two presets, frequency dependent and and side chain filtered
What a difference, between frequency dependent preset and without? Both have a HP filter.

And, you sampled a original vintage unit or reissue by Q2 Audio?

And, why is only mono!?.. The first version has a stereo presets and they were fantastic)

its a vintage unit, the vca version.

Ok The freq dependent version won't bypass the lows completely on gain reduction. It will use the filter to actually create frequency dependence. The normal comp will bypass some of the lows completely ( like the vast majority of comps)

I will post some graphs to make this a bit clearer in the future.

Wow I just picked this up and I'm amazed, its what I've been looking for with that indie-folk sound - Complex, Opto3a, and LBus are such a perfect combo

But what about stereo version presets? In v.1 it was amazing!

I do not have v1, but I totally second that!

Wanted the comp for drums, but works better on string instruments. I don't have the expander though. With expander might make it work (a lot) better for shaping drums.
Just an idea: a more flexible attack time with option above 25ms, maybe even 50ms by means of whatever method Tim P sees fit.

Stereo presets please!
Simply double mono is just fine. :)

Okay I'll try be clear, The stereo preset did not mean dual mono. It simply meant that that harmonics were stereo.

Why did I change this and no stereo harmonics anymore?

Most saturation on a comp comes from the attack and release shape time and feedback circuit, this is due to compression distortion, this is why the pre and compressor is separated. There are two harmonic types coming from the compressor. This will not be accurate by doing it all in once instance. It's far more accurate this way.

Basically it still works as a stereo comp (like most stereo comps) just not a dual mono. Dual mono requires a instance left and right.
