hey tim, that´d be great - the fastest attack i´m using is 10 anyway so there wouldnt be any downside for me ;)
i´m using logic 10.2. on osx 10.9.5. with nebula 4 (dont recall the version but can add later if needed)

I went ahead and used L-bus with N4 (which I finally got working) and was able to use the non-LR comp without the pre at the default DSP buffer. Sounds very nice indeed and has a really tasty crunch in the midrange. Intoxicating to listen to after a brief sample. Will definitely do more testing.

Also, I agree with the above - I’d welcome the slower attack for improved CPU because I’m using a slower attack anyhow.

Thanks for listening, Tim, and great work as usual.

I just put this together using DDMF's new PluginDoctor app. Interesting results....

AU except for Waves which is the VST running in Metaplugin, macOS.

Settings are the classic: 30ms attack, 0.3ms release, 1:2, theshold around -40 dB (set for all compressors so that the transision happens around the same place)

Would be helpful what you find interesting in these results as not everybody can read such charts.

Everything looks as expected except for the phase. Can you confirm that this plot is the same on INIT? you may of found a bug in n4.

plot 1 is frequency.

plot 2 is phase

plot 3 THD is harmonics, this can also how aliasing too, but where there is high order harmonics there is mirroring. So the two go hand in hand. In the comp the harmonics come from compression distortion, which is normal.

Plot 4 IMD , shows Inter-Modulation Distortion. This will also show distortion created from fast attack and release as stated above

plot 5 dynamic response for ratio curves

Plot 6 is attack and release. Note this only will change on the amount of compression for l-bus. Shape and time have been taken into account.

plot 7 is performance

This app is going to be extremely useful, but as for now it is still almost in beta stage...

I've found that sometimes it isn't able to compensate latency correctly, hence the odd phase graphs.

Ah that explains it... thank you Stedal

I don't have this analyzer and as I've noted in 3rd party beta forum, that I never was able to ge n4 to work in vst analyzer to work. So when I saw this plot I became concerned. I'll take a look now. Very helpful to have a new analyzer anyway.. I never knew this existed.

Just to caution ... PluginDoc does seem to have a few bugs at this early release stage.

I just found that setting 'test signal' levels to -18db does NOT always change the level [it'll stay at full 0dB].
I've notified DDMF.

Nonetheless ... this is a much welcomed APP, since no 64-bit VSTAnalyzer.

Yes,

I was trying to bridge n4 to 32bit in old vst analyzer but I would just get crashes. Normally I check everything in n3, Which in fact does not have this phase issue as I just checked....so I'm guessing the latency compensation is working different for n4.

Here is INIT. So what is all the phase distortion Tim? That looks worrisome.

Thanks Plexus but I mean the phase the second plot down in your original post......It has a zigzagging which seems to mean somethings up with the plot. A Latency issue would explain this though as Stedal said

Got it. DDMF confirms this is a problem with PluginDoctor and fix is coming. I will re-do and update once I get the fix.

I've added the extra n2p's for Now i've only made alternatives for the L-R versions.

Inside the zip i've wrote this-

These extra N2p's were created for lower cpu. This slightly effects the attack time and distorion character.
For getting faster attack times, use ahead parameter.
For superior acurracy use the normal presets in the original release.

Here's and updated version using PluginDoctor 1.02 which corrects the phase problem. I also added another column for the L-Bus+Pre which is both in parallel, pre after L-Bus.
