Does your skin work for N4?

Im thinking I might have to get an N3 so I can use the other programs and their skins?
N3 skins won't work with N4. You can skin AlexB libraries with N4 skins like below (R88 console) ;)

You don't need to get N3 as it will not be supported in the coming months. N4 will be updated with more goodies and Tim Pethericks libs has N4 skins and they look great :)

Could you explain a bit more about the differences between the 3 Line amps? circuits, characteristics etc..

thanks
Imho, this is what i gather so far on the line amps:

Stock - Add low end (punch) with a low mid boost.
Vintage - Extended low-end (add weight) with a low mid boost.
Classic - Has a low cut with a low mid boost (good if you want to clear out some low end).

Currently using Tapehead at "SAT" value 3 with 15 ips and Vintage Line Amp. Sounds good :)

Those 'extra controls' mentioned earlier in the thread are actually simply qualities associated with the tape circuitry which are mentioned in the 5042/3 article on Sound on Sound.

This appears to be the full machine emulation!

My only criticism is that Alex has not delved into the emulation techniques of distortion to the degree that TimP has as the Line Amp does not enable you to affect the dynamics of the signal to a great degree and the chirping of the samples becomes apparent on transients quite early (peaking around -16db with drive up full for monitoring of the chirping)...

I use an instance J37 Flat for the tape distortion after that and it works perfectly as a mastering tape machine with lots of control due to the variable speed and saturation control. And the 3 flavours of Line Amp!

There are various N4 skins packed in Cross Platform Commercial Library v 5.00 via the Dashboard N4.

Download a few of the comps, tape, verb libraries and install them. Launch N4 via DAW and select the comp, pre, verb, tape etc presets you've downloaded and it will show you the new skins. These skins are in the Nebula4 "Skins" folder.

To use those skins on the 3rd party libs, use the codes to link to the skins.

For Comps:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<?generated by Nebula2 parser?>
<PROPERTY>
<SKIN1> N4_COMP3.N2S </SKIN1>
<SKIN2> N4_GENERIC.N2S </SKIN2>
</PROPERTY>

For Pre’s:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<?generated by Nebula2 parser?>
<PROPERTY>
<SKIN1> N4_PRE2.N2S </SKIN1>
<SKIN2> N4_SEMIGENERIC.N2S </SKIN2>
<SKIN3> N4_GENERIC.N2S </SKIN3>
</PROPERTY>

For Verbs:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<?generated by Nebula2 parser?>
<PROPERTY>
<SKIN1> N4_DISTREV1.N2S </SKIN1>
<SKIN2> N4_SEMIGENERIC.N2S </SKIN2>
<SKIN3> N4_GENERIC.N2S </SKIN3>
</PROPERTY>

Look for a Nebula program that you want to skin and we will take Tim P’s 100A PREAMP HOT V3 44 as an example.

Since this is a preamp, i copy the Pre codes and paste into the Text Edit app:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<?generated by Nebula2 parser?>
<PROPERTY>
<SKIN1> N4_COMP3.N2S </SKIN1>
<SKIN2> N4_GENERIC.N2S </SKIN2>
</PROPERTY>

Save it as 100A PREAMP HOT V3 44.xml and place this file in the N4 Properties folder. Once you launch N4 and call up 100A PREAMP HOT V3 44, the skin will show up.

For Mac users, you can use N4 Batch Skin Processor app by Mordus @ https://www.acustica-audio.com/phpBB3/v ... lit=Mordus

Unfortunately we don’t have a Windows version to Batch Skin.
