Thanks for replying, Tim

So is it possible for you to do it?
I would love it... It is a serious money the tape, yes, you mean old scotch in order to get beatlesque sound wich may be the most interesting for this machine, isn't?

Well I am thinking about a kind of crowfunding to get the money for tape and your work and this way e could have that holy grial which is the J37.

What do you think?
From my point of view this is a great chance for nebula world, to have a j37 in our collection

I like your idea however,

Recently I spent some money on having some test tones to vinyl for sampling. The last experiment worked but for me it was good enough for release. So, I guess what I'm saying is wouldn't go for this crowd funding option as couldn't 100% guarantee a end product, I know peoples expectations would be high from this classic machine. I will buy the tape when I have the funds available.

Interesting thing about this machine is it's a incredibly good medium. When running the best tape with good headroom it's actually a very subtle coloration. When adding up tracks you start to hear that coloration creeping in.

I understand your point of view and I hope you can get it soon :)

Anyway I leave the crowd funding idea on the table, who knows?... maybe there are a few of us like me ready for do it even knowing there wouldn't be no 100% guarantee. I don´t think there are a lot of fine working J37 machines around and I don´t think there are a lot of great developers living close to one of them nowdays. Really it may be the first and only chance to get a Nebula J37 program and this implies to get the best J37 in digital domain...

Thanks anyway ;)

Have you tried the Waves version? I think it's ok. I dont use it much. its like the Kramer Tape. more for effect.

Yes I tried it, it has a very cool GUI and it is hard to use the ears with it :D , they made a great trap for vintage gear fetishists...

Really I find its sound is a nice sound but iwhen I use R2R or APEX and Michael's tools the results are more and more realistics. I mean (and this is something I find in a lot of Waves plugins) theirs J37 has something beyond the original gear sound, like a waves signature sound (like theirs J37 Director's cut)

I do prefer nebula because you get just the real behaviour of gear, not what the waves guys think a j37 should be or sound for nowdays.

That is why I am so interested into this j37 project, it could be the first and only time for being able to acces to a "real" j37 machine into digital world. The same for Apex 351, Michael's one is THE machine, waves' one is the interpretation the waves team do about what a 351 should be.

The Waves version is usable I agree, but it's not Nebula :). I would love to have a J37 to go along with the other tape libraries.

This EQ brings the most life of all EQs I think! It's subtle, but flick between the 's' non dynamic versions and the originals and you soon start to pick up what is going on.

Try turning the kernels to clean also, I am liking that even more for sounds that don't want to get dirtier but just get larger and more 'real'

Excellent!

- Hi! Not sure abouth what you mean by "flick between the 's' non dynamic versions and the originals and you soon start to pick up what is going on."?
I purchased my library in November, is there an update where we can choose from a 's'-version and a dynamic one?

- Can you enlighten me? :)

Go back to page 6 of the thread.

I put some extra presets for lower CPU up a week or two later. They are just n2p files.

These were a special request :-)
