Hi Richie thats sounds amazing. I compensated for the volume
diff and still the treated version took the track to a whole new level. Enjoyed the song to.
I want to recreate how you did this and I was wondering,
did you use the buss presets automatically for everything.
Drums went to drum preset, guitar to guitar preset etc or did you pick and choose if you would use a buss preset or not?
Thanks

Hi there!

I was asking myself how to use the MFC Panner.
And I have found this way:

1. I send all my audio to One Stereo Group Bus before de master.

2. I clone this Stereo Group Bus.

3. Using the StereoChannel plugin (from Sleepy-Time Records) I mute the SIDE audio in one bus and I mute the MID audio in the another bus.

4. In the MID Group Bus I put the MFC Panner with 0 panning.

5. In the SIDE Group Bus I do nothing.

6. Then I send this two Group Busses to the MixBuss
and I put the MFC M.Bus Air&Punch, then MFeQ-PRO and so on.

7. I ask myself what do you think.

Cheers!

Haha that is very smart and creative of you. not sure if I would do that. the important thing is. did you heard a difference? I only use the panner on tracks I want to pan. and I mix in LCR mode. so when I pan things, usually always hard panned. which is 60 in MFC Panner. I dont put the panner on tracks that are mono and centered like bass. I dont but it on any bus group or the 2bus. usually I would convert a mono guitar to a stereo track and put the panner on it and pan it with MFC as the last insert plugin

As somebody who doesn't own the MFC, why use the panner like that with all the mid/side filtering?
(What I've read from it you basically put it only on the 'mid' content on your master. Instead of sending everything to master, you send everything to a 'master-side' and 'master-mid' and put the panner only on the 'master-mid').

Why?

Does the stereo field disappear by just putting it on the master bus or something? AlexB said the panner had the ability to add something extra to mixes just by putting it on your master track..

Wow, you guys are really overthinking this. Just insert it in your tracks, busses, auxs, etc., etc and mix away. It's just a simple panner like the ones in your mixer channels/tracks.

I just compenste the volume decrease by the same amount on the input and work with it like a normal pan. And yes, it adds nice sound. Just insert 5-10 pan presets, sweep the phase and hear the difference.

I just have to ask why you are converting a mono track to stereo? You still end up with a mono track, there is no added stereo information by doing this. I am just curious now.

So he could use the planner program to pan instead of his DAW.

If it's a mono track a plugin (or nebula program ) can't change the panning because there is no stereo field to work with.

So change a track to stereo , insert panner as last insert, and pan to where he wants it. Makes sense.

'modern' daws don't see a difference between stereo and mono track a so it won't matter in those. But the older ones still see a difference and behave differently.

But Alex , answered my question with the 'overthinking it' answer :).

Edited because I was totally wrong.....

I had never noticed that.....Huh! I can't use a panner plugin (at least a Nebula panner) on a mono track!
