Hey, we're talking high technology: it's like jumping in a time machine back to 1999. Can your DAW travel through time? I didn't think so...

I have started trying out the SHQs in REAPER, though.

I just bought the Comp library and I have some mixed feeling about it.I try it on a drum buss and I'm not happy with the results. The drums become a little bit dull.I'm taking out 3-4 db.The same on the master buss. Can some settings in the nebula configuration make it like this? Here is my xml files:

i don't see anything suspicious. in the manual the only thing i asked the users to modify is the ahead and timed settings. i recommended ahead be set to 23000 and you only have it set to 13000, but that only dictates how long of a look ahead nebula may allow you to have. it wouldn't have any effect like you describe.

and really, you aren't describing much. you just say it makes them sound 'dull', which isn't a lot to go on. is it doing something to the transients you don't like, or the frequency response? i can't help much with such little info.

i haven't heard anyone else suggest that the comp sounds dull though, so that's kind of weird. anyone else notice this?

Thanks for the reply. The compressor sounds like pumping put i'm not doing a lot with it.3-4dB of gain reduction.I try to increase the release time but again i'm not happy. Can dsp buffer setting influence this?Mine is set to max.I just can't get the OMG effect described in the posts above.By the way I use guitar buss and I like the results.Today I'll test on other material to see how it work

Same thing happens here. Works great on individual sources but using it on a drum buss or a mix buss it starts to smash with very little gain reduction. Love it on vocals just wish I could use it on the mix buss.

- Yep, I also thought there would be an audio file demonstrating the 609A on a piano - but 'one' is the reminder, not the sound file, I reckon... :D

Anyways, thanks for the tip mightymosaic!

All I can say is: wow wow wow! Now that Nebula loads so much faster, I finally use some neglected libraries, amongst them the 609 and ... man, this thing smacks, it's unbelievable!
Gain reduction shows NOTHING, and the sound is just there. This or AlexB's "American" compressor live on my drum buss now :)

Wow wow wow!
