Modern Logic Hot Signal

Post by tbentley » Fri Apr 05, 2013 4:38 pm

Ive notice that signals around -6 peak when using MLC input lines are distorting. When i try other consoles such a MBC or MWC, the console doesn't distort. Does anybody know why?

I don't have the MBC, but MLC IL has higher THD levels then the MWC inputs. Generally speaking, presets with higher THD tend to generate more distortion/artifatcs with hot signals. It's best to experiment a bit with each console to find out what are the "safe" peak levels.

You may better to lower the input level.
-6dBFS are +12dBVU... Very HOT if you use the hardware, and the preset mimics the hardware like you can see in the user manual.
Thanks
