Nebula Mac development ? not au ?

Post by zaminx » Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:21 pm

With Nebula Au taking shape I was wondering if the vst version will still be supported on the Mac.I ask as I have used the Mac vst version in Cubase for sometime now and Im very happy with it and have a big investment in libarys etc.

we'll support obviously both of them, I adapted the code so that 99% of the code between pc, mac vst and mac au is the same. The same for clients for server versions. What's missing on the mac osx side is a proper 64 bit version, it will require a bit of time, there are a couple of issues regarding asm code and cocoa interface, so 64 bits is not scheduled for this year. Anyway we are using successfully the standard apple clang compiler, so everything is ready for a proper porting.

If you need a betatester for AU I'm there. Or, if there's anything else I can do to help speed up the release, just say so.

I'd like to point to http://www.kvraudio.com/news.php?id=14727, especially the first paragraph. Looks like Steinberg built an "automatic" VST-to-AU-converter into their newest VST-3.1-SDK. Don't know if this is of any use for the current state of development, but it sure sounds interesting.

Is there a projected date or rough timeline as to when the Audio Unit version will be available?

It will be a great day for me when it's released.

no, not in betatesting yet, I don't have a release date. Simply I'm working on that, but I had a little stop cause the nvidia conference (I'm preparing things)
