After I deleted the entire N4 repository, I reverted back (the installs) to what was working on December 28th when I did the original install of N4 and new libs. I repeated those steps of dragging and dropping N3 libs over to N4 on a remote drive taking care to remove all Init files from N3 in the P&V directories. It's old school directory style yes, but it works again, until I learn the new directory and skinning methods I'll stick with this.
I did nothing to the .xml nor Rom files. Only thing I did between successful drag and drop and and failure initially was to install Pink. I don't see that they could be related. The install did try to create a new empty path (I am on Sierra) at HD/library/audio/presets/ But it called it Acustica and not AcusticaAudio. I deleted that directory. AcustiaAudio pointed to the correct drive and repository.
Perhaps some of this can be useful, I don't know. Perhaps it is just smoke, or my naïveté. I did try the new engine and installers and in logic showed a blank (no interface) placeholder called "this plugin is for compatibility with garage band". In Protools it worked fine. And loaded every 3rd party lib as before. In H******* the new engine and installers crashed instantly. With the revert to the original release it works fine again. I'll take better care to document these explorations. I'm not a coder but a writer so I will try harder to help. I noticed that the .xml for AU showed "this is an aax plug" as starting dialogue. Perhaps that is intentional.
