you can always use n3 for these libraries, as before.

Are you saying remove the altdata paths ? so in essence forget using n4 for my 3rd party libraries? if thats the case it's not really a solution as i didn't buy n4 for it's stock library i bought it to use with the 3rd party libraries.
no, i am not saying you can't use it for 3rd party libraries.
maybe wait for the installer with the new engine and try again with alternativedatapaths.
when you would give a little information on your system and show a screenshot of your xml with the added altdatapaths, troubleshooting would be easier.
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude pro x3, waveform 9 (tracktion), reaper
system 2: mac osx el capitan - reaper(64bit), waveform 9 (64bit), mixbus 6

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

hey mathias ,i'm appreciative of your help,i'll post a sceenshot of my xml,i'm just frustrated that after all these years unless i'm missing it there doesn't seem to be a simple video or image based tutorial from the company on neb basic setup and third party usage which is a big important part or nebula, nothing unless i missed it either in the manual it boggles my mind, i'm beginning to think maybe nebula is for advanced audio engineers and not regular musicians to improve their sound.... i'm on a mac osx yosemite using logic pro x and ableton 9..thanks in advance

spotted two things:

at the end you need to have:
</ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH>

see the slash at the beginning!

do you use the mainharddrive of your mac?

i wonder about the "volumes" at the beginning of your address. try removing it.

That xml is still pointing version 136
Yes place the slash to alternativedatapath

A thing: alternativedatapath is a sort of advanced hack.
Soon it will implemented in a easier way.

yes, mathias is right, that slash is mandatory to close the xml-line and make it possible to work. Hope it will work now!

Thank you soooo much mathias that worked in conjunction with your suggestion of removing the volumes now that alex b showed up i'll now add my analoginthebox fate and mammoth and my cdsoundmaster consoles,i think maybe at least 3rd party developers could have on their site or at least in the manual how to point to the 3rd party libraries at least for standard main hard drive setup..thanks so much everyone for the help. :)

great to hear it worked now!

if things don't work well with those libraries, think about updating the engine, as giancarlo described.
download the new engine and put it in "engines" in n4 repository.

then point to it via the xml in this tag:
<ENGINEVERSION> 14142 </ENGINEVERSION>
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude pro x3, waveform 9 (tracktion), reaper
system 2: mac osx el capitan - reaper(64bit), waveform 9 (64bit), mixbus 6

This method (manual drag and drop of 3rd party LIBS) has since failed on Logic. It won't even get past the library load. It worked flawlessly for three days then fell over. I get the AU plug loaded and .init then go to scroll and hard crash, it drops Logic in seconds. Even with the new updates. I've failed. Oddly, in PT12.7HD it still works perfectly. It has to be related to the AU plug in itself. I suppose I'll need to wait, read and learn to build directiries as is the trend. On mac I've ignored the skinning and directories if only because historically this was less than friendly with OSX. I am dated in my thinking I suppose. My apologies if my excitement was misleading. For once, ironically, PT is the solid player in all this, at least for me.

I deleted and reinstalled N4 directory and dragged and dropped N3 libs again. as per my original note. Its's working again. I have no idea why.

After I deleted the entire N4 repository, I reverted back (the installs) to what was working on December 28th when I did the original install of N4 and new libs. I repeated those steps of dragging and dropping N3 libs over to N4 on a remote drive taking care to remove all Init files from N3 in the P&V directories. It's old school directory style yes, but it works again, until I learn the new directory and skinning methods I'll stick with this.

I did nothing to the .xml nor Rom files. Only thing I did between successful drag and drop and and failure initially was to install Pink. I don't see that they could be related. The install did try to create a new empty path (I am on Sierra) at HD/library/audio/presets/ But it called it Acustica and not AcusticaAudio. I deleted that directory. AcustiaAudio pointed to the correct drive and repository.

Perhaps some of this can be useful, I don't know. Perhaps it is just smoke, or my naïveté. I did try the new engine and installers and in logic showed a blank (no interface) placeholder called "this plugin is for compatibility with garage band". In Protools it worked fine. And loaded every 3rd party lib as before. In H******* the new engine and installers crashed instantly. With the revert to the original release it works fine again. I'll take better care to document these explorations. I'm not a coder but a writer so I will try harder to help. I noticed that the .xml for AU showed "this is an aax plug" as starting dialogue. Perhaps that is intentional.
