Best_Easiest Way to Upgrade --- FREE to SERVER ??

Post by doubtingtom37 » Tue Nov 10, 2015 4:05 am

MANY Demo emulations in 'nebulatemprepository'

Do I save c:\nebulatemprepository to another location and then copy it back after Upgrade?

Should I remove all other Nebula3FREE entries prior to downloading and installing Nebula3 Server?

Any other critical advice?? :o

1 - no need to move repository (copy if you wish a backup or move if you wish to start from scratch)

2 - Leave your entries they won't be affected

3 - download the nebula pro setup (full setup latest build) from dashboard (it comes with the purchase of server)

4 - download server upgrade from dashboard (latest build)

5 - install nebula 3 pro full install first followed by the server upgrade

6 - start nebula in a DAW and it will generate a serial in the root of the /nebularepository directory
(shut DAW down)

7 - upload this serial file to your dashboard

8 - dashboard app should generate an authorization file for you after upload

9 - download Authorization file copy it to the root of /nebrepository

10 - Open again in DAW it should scan first and then boot up ready to load

* note after the first install you only need to install the server upgrades in the future this prevents having to re authorize each time you upgrade
(found this out the hard way)

I think that about it but probably missed something, hope this helps you get a start

Regards

Very nicely explained! Appreciate the detailed steps which seem quite clear from working with past installs.
No worries, but will note any issues if they occur.

Best regards

What's the best way to handle this if Neb 3 Pro is already installed and running?

Thanks!

it will work: server is named in the same way. I suggest to make a backup of nebula things located in vstplugins folder (just backup this folder)

So just put the Server .dll in the proper folder to replace the Neb Pro 3 .dll?

You can do it, overwriting new files with old ones, making everything works in the wrong way.

Yes, we recommend you to remove Nebula3 Free before install a commercial version.
