Announcing 'Nebula Explained' Online Course Coming Soon!

Post by david1103 » Tue Jul 23, 2013 2:27 am

Find out all about it and register your interest now!

http://www.learndigitalaudio.com/

I have been working on this project all year, and I can now finally go public and make an official announcement! Thanks to all the Acustica Audio people and 3rd party developers who have been giving me such valuable feedback and guidance.

Watching Nebula grow since the day it was released, and visiting the Acustica forums nearly everyday since, I know exactly what users have been asking about over the years. I am going to attempt to address it all and a lot more.

This is a work of love, and it is also going to be amazing value for money (in the Nebula community spirit). In my enthusiasm to get going I did not really take the time to conduct the market research I should have, now I need your help!

If you think you might be interested in taking this course, please enter your email in the “Register your interest box” on the home page.

By entering your email you can help me estimate how many people will take the course and select a fair price. It is a brand new email list, separate from the LDA newsletter list, so even if you are a LDA subscriber already, please fill in your email again here.

As we get closer to launch I will start to upload free samples onto my Youtube channel to get you all excited :)

If you have any questions or requests for areas to be covered please let me know! There is still time to add stuff in if there is demand.

Hi David,
do you want to publish a news in the our website?
It's very important to explain the pricing.
I'm waiting your feedback.

Thanks everyone for your feedback!

I will make an announcement about pricing soon in this thread, i don't want to rush and make any mistakes.

Leaving the pricing till a bit later gives me more flexibility, sorry if it's a bit annoying, I hope everyone will be very happy with the course and the pricing!

Latest updates!

There has been a bit of a delay due to the insane amount of work needed in learning about professional screen casting and video editing. Most of the content has been written for ages, making it into video is proving to be quite an adventure.

Also a hard drive meltdown cost me an entire week! BACKUP!

I am aiming for an October release now.

I am currently finishing a full section of the course that I am going to give away free as promotion on Youtube. It's called 'Secrets of Nebula Gain Staging' and should be uploaded within the week, with the final pricing :D

Still hoping some kind soul will donate me some high quality unprocessed audio, I just posted about that in another thread...

THANKS to everyone who has signed up on my home site! There are loads of you now, I know you are going to love the finished course!

Looking forward to this !

I can attest to this  Curious, might you mention the 'screen casting' software you opt'd for ?
I'm demo'ing several programs for my software package. This stuff can get really involved, both effort, learning curve, and time needed :o

anyway ... all the best !!

No problem, it's Camtasia 8. For the PC it is by far the best option. I didn't do any research about Mac SW.

Other things to think hard about are the resolution you record at and the final resolution. You have to factor in zooms, and also the availability of footage to supplement your screencasts at that resolution.

What may not be obvious until you try the software out is that it takes a LOT of CPU and computer resources to record and edit in high resolution at 30 fps. If you want to add drawing on the screen with a graphics tablet, rendering animated sequences etc then you maybe in for a shock

@david1103 What software and codec are you using to edit? I only find it CPU intensive with either inefficient codecs are programs.

All within Camtasia 8 which has its own special internal codecs until final export which can be in any format.

The new version of Camtasia is excellent and a full video editor unlike the previous versions which were very limited.
