What's wrong with Nebula compressors?

Post by winrob » Mon Jan 21, 2013 8:59 am

Hi,

I'm new here and I've been reading and demoing a lot and I keep hearing that Nebula doesn't do compression well.

In the Rayphlex threads, people are saying its the first one that works properly but I don't understand what the others aren't doing properly.

I've also read that people use algo compressors first then Nebula ones for the tone. I got the AlexB MWD in the bundle I bought and it seems to work fine.

What am I missing?

You`re missing nothing. the question is what you like and what library is doing the job well in your opinion.
different people have different opinions. you are happy with your comp? then every thing is all right.
I like the alexb stuff too and use it a lot. no missing here.

Thanks Enrique, I'll read those.

Dwagrimm, that's my point, I am happy just curious why, specifically, others aren't. That's all. :)

Just had a look at those tips. So Nebula compressors work fine as long as the gain reduction is under 30dB.

Is that right? Or is there still a problem with attack times. What about if the compressor has a slider for look ahead, does that help?

You need to set the look-ahead parameter to maximum level and CNV value to 3200 or more.

It´s necessary move the make-up - in/ out parameters until get the compression that you want too.

Thanks Cupwise, that covers it.

So we're you able to sort out the attack being affected by threshold issue?
