Help from any Pro Tool Users...?

Post by [email protected] » Wed Aug 10, 2011 2:09 pm

Hi guys,

One of Pro Tools LE's flaws is the totally ridiculous real time bounce "feature".

Im trying to figurre out a way I can apply r2r across all individual tracks of a mix and render that mix down so I can compare various machines.

All other DAW's on this planet, and Im sure others, you are able to do a software mixdown and the file does not have to play back live, dosent matter if you have maxed out your CPU.

In PT, having to listen to the track as it mixes dwon means of course that it crashes straight away with far too many Nebula instances open.

Im trying to find a way around this without bouncing individual tracks , thats far too painful to contemplate. Thanks.

Not a fabulous solution but if you get desperate grab a demo of something. The REAPER demo, for example, will allow you to do a whole buttload of renders (even has a render queue) you can then listen to and compare back in your DAW. The REAPER installation is totally unobtrusive (if you choose portable install even more so) so getting it back off when you're done is pretty easy. And it's fully functional; there's a 5 second nag window or whatever it is and then your demo is the actual program itself which you're legally invited to use for however long the demo is (30 days? can't recall). Who knows, you might end up liking it enough to grab a license for offline bouncing if it fits your needs well enough. For me, the FX chains systems make it a really great tool for batch rendering; of course it is also my DAW so it's especially convenient for me.

I don't know what other DAWs do in terms of demos but surely others must have them available too.
