Local cpu usage running Remote server

Post by sneaky » Sat Aug 06, 2011 2:27 am

Hi a question please
What sort of cpu usage are other xp 32bit Reaper 4 users seeing: On the Reaper machine - when running instances of Nebula server remotely.

whew. ;)

6 instances of MBC running locally on a core2 8400 - costs me around 50% usage at 48kHZ on the Reaper daw.

On the same Reaper machine 6 instances of MBC served from a remote core i3 540 - incurs around 10-15% cpu - on Reaper .

Is this normal.

cheers

local instances served remotely are light unless data is not processed within the frame deadline. Faster lan connection, multiple lan connections, high dspbuffer could help

Does anyone know a faster stan Gigabit Lan, inexpensive connection for nebula server? Does usb3 work for that purpose?

Is it possible to increase the frame deadline and thus giving nebula more time for processing instances over lan? Would this be the dspbuffer? Are values higher than 8192 possible or does the daw set the limit?

I think that depend on the sequencer and the delay time limit for automatic delay compensation.

what parameter would i have to change in order to give nebula more time for the transmission over lan?

There is not any parameter yet, you can increase DSP Buffer only.
