incredible 1.3.498 on the path (Core3 engine)

Post by giancarlo » Thu Jun 16, 2011 8:03 pm

fixed bypass led, memory usage even in nebula pro and simplified localserver configuration and usage. Stay tuned

ok this version is too much good. It will be distributed to nebula server owners only, because they could pissed off because they paid for something wich now works very well also in normal nebula (for example people bought server even using a x64 daw).
And Mac osx users: they paid for server and localserver is not too much optimized, this new version outperforms it without the server component (especially if they are not running snow leopard)
So the optimization will be adopted only in nebula server release until we improve the server adding some other new exciting features.

So Nebula3 Server will be based on a different engine we'll name Core3.

Engines:

nebula2, nebula3 -> CoreI (no optimizations)
nebula3 pro -> CoreII (cached vectorial engine)
nebula3 server -> Core3 (cached vectorial engine, shared memory)

Optimized, Cached and shared memory usage - this is going to be a major breakthrough - looking forward to this

Very exiting news, I'm already maxing out my new computer with 96kHz projects so this should be a big help.

Not an emergency, but when you get a moment could you explain the optimization of CORE3?

It was stated on another forum that users with a single machine on my host wouldn't benefit so much from the server product. Does Core3 change that?

memory shared among different nebula instances would be saved. So if you load the same preset more times you would save a lot of ram resources.

Awesome, thanks. I thought that was what you meant by shared resources but I wanted to make sure.

Giancarlo, how's the cpu optimization on OSX?
When I tested the free server version, the ram-distribution is awesome,
but it used so much cpu, it was ridiculous; about triple the amount of cpu than Nebula Pro 3.
So is this version for snow leopard also cpu-optimized as well as ram?
