Links to nebula server free PC VERSION and MAC OSX (updated)

Post by giancarlo » Tue Mar 08, 2011 8:38 pm

Temporary links are here

Nebula featuring 32 bits client PC
https://www.box.net/shared/static/v209ng62uj.rar

Nebula featuring 64 bits client PC
https://www.box.net/shared/static/4kndzgattn.rar

Nebula featuring 32 bits client MAC OSX
https://www.box.net/shared/oriqdgl5il

1) install nebula3 free using a folder DIFFERENT than your actual repository (otherwise your key will be overwritten!!!)

2) choose the version which could be supported by your HOST (= SEQUENCER). 32bits or 64 bits.

3) test quickly nebula3 free as usually

When you want to test the server,

4) close your sequencer or audio editor

5) from windows start menu select "Acustica Audio", than "Free Products", than the proper version of server. If your OS system is 64 bits, use NebulaServerWinFree64, otherwise NebulaServerWinFree

6) a systray application will appear (systray = left bottom corner :) )

7) you can see what's happening just clicking on it and "open"

8) run your sequencer. Open Nebula3 Free.
In DISK page of nebula (enable GURU mode in DISK page) you can see if that nebula is connected to a server. You can run 64 bits nebula in your 32 bits sequencer if you have windows 64 bits, or run MORE nebulas (more ram available) in your 32 bits windows even using the 32 bits server.
Enjoy

9) when you have done, close your sequencer

10) terminate the localserver clicking on the systray icon and "exit"

---------------------------------------

this version works as tcp server too (through a lan connection). Everything is ready for maximum fun, you need just to configure the tcp address in both nebula3.xml and nebulaserverwinfree.xml. Local server for a tcp server should be 127.0.0.1 . Close your firewall.

I'll provide the mac osx version too. You could combine mac and pc, more servers and localservers.

A local server is a "pipe" server, and it's identified by SERVERADDRESS = . and a SERVERPORT
It runs ONLY on the same computer.

A server is a "tcp" server, and it's identified by a proper tcp address (for example 192.168.1.1) and a SERVERPORT.

[EDIT FOR MAC OSX USERS]
Remember this is a nebula3 free version and you can't select a different nebulatemprepository.
IT MEANS THAT YOUR NEBULA3COMMERCIAL WILL STOP WORKING.
Before installing nebula3 free check that you have backupped your personal key (INIT.N2P and INIT.N2V) because your nebula3 commercial will stop working while you are testing nebula3 free. So you could revert to a working nebula3 commercial when you have done.
Just a sidenote: NebulaServerMacFree is an application, you'll find it among your Applications (/Applications). It's a fancy icon.

I understand the advantages of running a remote server (distributing CPU load between two machines) but I'm unclear on the advantages of running a local server. Is the local Nebula "pipe" server more efficient that running Nebula as a VST plugin from within the DAW host app?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think with local server you can run Nebula 64 bit in a 32 bit host.

ram available to nebula. Nebula localserver loads presets faster too.

Will a Neb Pro local server be released soon? We can't use our third party and premium libraries with this release, right?

thanks

Hi!
I checked briefly the server and it seems to be working fine. I put 16 instances of Nebula and the CPU showed 53 %. Am I correct that at the moment we can use only Nebula3 Free with the server and later Pro version?

only free version, yes. It supports even remote instances, so really it's a mixed localserver/server release.
