I know Giancarlo. What I'm asking is about the "Configuration" menu on the plugin. How do you configure it in Cubase?
L+R =A
Ls+Rs=B ??

I'm trying to figure out how the Nebula Sidechain plugin functions because Logic doesn't want to play ball with it at all. :ugeek:

it's the same as reaper, and even reaper AU is working. You have 4 channels, first 2 are your audio, the other 2 are the sidechain control signal.

In vst world you just add a quadro channel and that's all (quadro is a speaker configuration type coming from specifications). Cubendo loves it.

In au world there are 2 possible solutions. The first one is the actual one, you have a 4 ins - 2 outs on a single bus. It works more or less like the vst version, reaper works flawlessly.

A better solution would be creating 2 stereo busses (they call them "elements"), each one with 2 ins and 2 outs. Anyway I have troubles calling the rendering function, I asked on kvr audio forum too. The worst case it that logic users will wait till I find a solution.

I've done what you describe and logic just sends everything thru the plugin and out again. The sidechain signal gets send to the master channel and doesn't really seem to affect the none-sidechain signal.

I fear that you may need to figure out how logics internal sidechain works. I see it being used by Stillwell, Ddmf, Psp, Voxengo etc so maybe it's not too complicated.

I'll try some more.

I don't know about X1, I don't use it, but in general Sonar never really improved on side-chaining and more elusive ways of routing. I don't believe this is possible in 8.5.3. Not 100% though.

Noel made big changes to sidechaining in X1 and it now works perfectly in x64 too. I started a thread on the X1 forum recently about it that Noel participated in.

Yes it is. I made a short instructional video on how to do it in X1, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g60LK6u35c .

Good stuff Paul, just curious though, you thanked Noel for correcting your "errors". Which errors if I may ask?

on the original video, which started the thread, I demonstrated how VC-64 didn't work. But Noel pointed out to me that I hadn't used the 'key' button. Doh!

Right. I gave it a shot in Reaper to get a feel for how it works when it works, and everything was great with the Au plugin.

In logic the Ls+Rs don't affect the compression. I've tried every possible configuration but the plugin (when in Logic) doesn't see the Ls+Rs signal (or Logic doesn't pass it to the plugin).

Sorry Gian Logic is a no-go so far.

I hate logic. I hate apple. Stupid marketing approach ahaha. Ok, I'll look for some documentation.

From "The Glue" thread on Gearslutz:
Logic 7 doesn't support the AU spec properly. A plugin that uses a quad input and stereo ouput will work in Logic 7, but not in Logic 8. A plugin that uses 2xStereo inputs and a Stereo output will work with Logic 8 but not in Logic 7. If you are a customer I will happily give you a refund if this is a dealbreaker. Otherwise you could ask Apple why they don't support their own AU plugin standard in their own top of the line audio product ;)

yes.... I see it.
We'll support the double bus anyway. I want it working in logic 9.
