Re: is Nebula ready for a limiter?

Nebula is not going to be helpful in the loudness war anytime soon.

Re: where are my free programs?

SOLVED by sending Acustica the .ser file. Upgrading had overwritten my authorized .INIT files.

Re: Erics gearing up for a nebula 1176

This is all old news, isn't it? Nebula is unparalleled in providing accurate hardware texture, frequency information, overtone characteristics. With a few exceptions, I use 100% Nebula EQs when ITB now. The technology on which Nebula is based simply cannot - and may never be able to - smack down har...

Re: where are my free programs?

Thanks, I'll generate a .LOG and send it.

The odd thing about this is that if I throw away scanboot.xml and restart Nebula, it generates a new scanboot.xml which does contain all of the programs. So the issue seems to be somewhere between scanboot.xml and the browser.

Re: where are my free programs?

Hi Enrique,
I did try redownloading and reinstalling the TAPE segment of the commercial library, which had no effect.
How do I enable .LOG?

Re: where are my free programs?

Actually since a couple of months ago I've been having the same problem. Regardless of what I do, none of the RELS category programs will show up in the browser, neither in AU nor VST. Nebula is showing that it is registered on the DISK page and I have a Nebula.ser file in the right place, so it doe...

Re: what can I expect from an emulation?

You're actually right, Tim. Static convolution can add overtones, but only as a snapshot from one or more fixed fundamentals, in which case it's really just a fancy eq curve and not "harmonic distortion" in the dynamic sense. I'm pretty sure that as far as convolution goes, only Nebula or other dyna...

Re: what can I expect from an emulation?

True, but I think that depends on whether you are using a dynamic preset or not. I don't believe it does. Certainly, an effect that is traditionally "time dependent," like a reverb, delay or flanger depends more critically on the time domain than something like an EQ, but I can't think of any piece...

Re: what can I expect from an emulation?

Both of the characteristics you name (frequency curve changes and harmonic distortion) could be achieved by standard (static) convolution. But the other important thing to remember about Nebula is that it also models way those effects act in the amplitude and time domains - depending on how loud the...

Re: Rupert N**e Portico EQ Plugin

On the other side nebula is getting really powerful. Faster, optimized, and with the option of a custom gui... and computers are faster too. And there is a big library now... Exactly. For the current price of those plugins, I could own more than half of the entire available released content for Neb...

So this was not multiprocessor multithreading then?

Re: Rupert N**e Portico EQ Plugin

Agreed. Interesting to note that in the comparison discussions on Gearslutz, the "next-closest thing" was always either Nebula or Duende X-EQ, even if the Steinberg plug was considered to have "won." The current pricing on those plugs is a joke, truly. I consider it an opening bid and a prestige mov...

Won't disabling multithreading cause a performance hit though?
