Re: GOLD Analog Dreamware Anthology - TBR 18-19th april

The OSX minimum requirement is 10.8 for Gold - is it that Gold will not work at all on say 10.6 or is it that the reliability can't be guaranteed? I am on OSX 10.6 and running stable. Usually I'm quite conservative about implementing OS and other upgrades (cue all kinds of problems & software bughun...

Re: GOLD Analog Dreamware Anthology - TBR 18-19th april

Congrats with this one AA! I was curious if anyone could shed more light on the tube/valve preamps in Gold - I find this to be an intriguing addition to the anthology.... (excuses if this has been covered already & I missed it) .. From the Gold manual: "Tube preamps slot After the development of thi...

Re: GOLD Analog Dreamware Anthology - TBR 18-19th april

Very exciting - the concept & look of it seems fantastic, good luck with the project!

Fwiw - if AA would do something like this with H*LIOS, I would practically want to hand over one of the gold bars from my Swiss bank vault for it :-0

just a quick note: the gyrator library contains no shelves. just the hpf and 3 bell bands. having said that, that library does indeed sound great! :)
Ah - sorry for the (unintentional) disinformation guys!

Re: Best high shelf...Best low shelf...

Pearl high shelf is magical...but that is Aqua.

To my ears the Tim P Gyrator high shelf sounds great, but frankly, as others have mentioned, there's numerous fantastic 3rd party Neb eq libraries you can't really go wrong with..

Re: AlexB: U73 German Mastering Comp (new ver. of older GMD)

My guess is it probably would have almost always been left 'set & forget' in a limiting mode to protect the cutter head from any sudden unexpected peaks that could cause very expensive damage, but for the rest not doing anything at all during a straight 1:1 transfer of the material.. With some excep...

Golly, the feedback about this one has piqued my interest - always on the lookout for good additions to masterbuss/mastering toolkit..

One again RJHollins is helping drain the olde personal wallet with his rave review on this one :)

Re: Vari Level released!!

Presumably one of the green 436 series Altecs would deliver a similar if not exactly the same sound/sonics (?) According to internet lore the legendary Abbey Road comps were modified Altec 436B units - modified for increased possibilities / user control & maybe something done with the input (attenua...

Re: AlexB: SP79 German Mastering Console (new ver. of older

OK - thnx!

It would have been designed as a mastering / program compressor so it would make sense it shines best in that kind of context eg: just using it a little & not to 'smash' the signal...

Hmmm,,, will I be able to resist 'just one more'/// $$ ha ha

Re: AlexB: SP79 German Mastering Console (new ver. of older

The U73 is also excellent for mastering. I always seem to end up preferring it over all the others comps I have. Interesting - I was curious about this one .. what other comps does this one beat for you? Fwiw I've used the orig (hardware) U73b units & later sitral/transistor U273b - which both soun...
