The only change I make to the XML is increase the <LTIMED> to 100000 so that I can use long kernels in timed mode

Re: 88.2 kHz libraries?

You could also consider up-sampling your project to 96kHz and working with the libraries you have. Seems like a petty to build a new preset collection just for one project, and your 88.2kHz Nebula options are quite limited. I've done a lot of 44.1k/48khz to 96k up-sampling (in order to use my 96k pr...

Re: Transient loss

I just checked the default settings of AlexB consoles and I was surprised to see him using only "classic - Freqd" mode (all the arrows pointing to the left). Is it possible that he would choose the worst setting for all his consoles, skipping the whole timed engine? The same applies to STN Tapes......

Hi Tim, if you get a chance to do a shootout, could you make it blind?

Re: Favorite Nebula 'analogue thickener'...

ferrite beads are your friend:)- I use them for all my mic cables.

About the thickener- it's subtle, but I often just use Doc-Fear with -2 or [email protected] to take the edge of things.

Re: Favorite Nebula 'analogue thickener'...

Swan - you can hear the difference between my Jupiter 8 going through the Speck Xtramix then into Lynx Hilo, vs direct to Hilo here http://www.gearslutz.com/board/gear-shoot-outs-sound-file-comparisons-audio-tests/747959-jupiter-8-into-hilo-vs-into-xtramix-then-into-hilo.html Quite a difference, ev...

Re: presets for depth/dimension/separation/3D stereo

I like your first mix better. I think if you cleaned the low and low-mid a bit (maybe 70 & 250hz ?) it's going to sound quite balanced. The second mix sounds more strident and flat to me. If you want better separation between the instruments, try using less effects on your master bus. I normally hav...

YR Free Presets- Latest: "JFET" (44.1kHz/48kHz/96kHz)

Thanks Paul, David. Just added "Y JFET": a stereo preset I created from a JFET preamp. Sampled @44.1k, 48k & 96kHz, I was able to really drive the preamp using a pad on the output. I'm very pleased with the results- the preset adds a touch of depth and realism and works great as a front-end to a cle...

Re: YR Free Presets- Latest: "NAGIII" (48kHz&96kHz)

Following a request (made long time ago), I've re-sampled the Nagra III preamp @ 48kHz & 96kHz using the MH ULN-2. Please note that the 1st kernel is set to "timed" and is relatively long with the 48k version (68ms). I did that because shorter kernel lengths were causing ripple in the low frequencie...
